SCOTT SUDBURY---STATIC ON MY RADIO
Being on the mailing list for most of the AOR record labels is a rather nice position to be in. With the only downside being that you can get rather blas'e and take a lot of albums for granted and sometimes it takes an awfully good album to make you sit up and take notice, which is where Scott Sudbury comes in as this is an album that knocked me sideways with its sheer class and outstanding songwriting that some artists would be hard pushed to match on their fourth or fifth release never mind their debut.

Scott hails from Memphis, Tenessee and sounds like he was born to rock n roll as he blasts into 'Static On My Radio' the albums opening song that is the bastard offspring of Bryan Adams 'Kids wanna rock'. This is stripped back 70s style rock and Scott delivers it perfectly. 'The letting go' on the other hand slows things down with its John Waite 'Missing You' style vibe.

At times Scotts voice reminds me of Glen Burtnik crossed with Rick Springfeild especially on the likes of 'Long way home'(Which could have been lifted from Burtniks 'Palookaville' opus) And 'Me and the memory of you'. Scotts certainly not a guy to shy away from wearing his influences on his sleeve as this cd is simply littered with them, which makes this an interesting and very irresistable cd that has not been far away from my stereo since I received it.

With every song a highlight and everyone different from the next this will probably be in my top 5 of the year as I rate it that highly. From the Springsteen--esque 'Tonight' to the pure power pop of 'Here I go' this cd has it all and is one of the best and most diverse singer songwriter cds you will hear this year and I urge you to track this down at all costs. Copies can be obtained from Scotts' website at www.scottsudbury.com. And to all you labels out there Scott is currently unsigned. I think that is something you can rectify. Don't you!!
